Ceará
Caponga
ongoing
Between sand and wood, in Brazil’s Nordeste.
In Caponga, a fishing village in Ceará, a village house opens onto a new plot of land. A wooden house on stilts, typical of the region, takes its place there to host a studio and an artist’s residence.
The project draws on Brazilian modernism: simple volumes, resting lightly on the sand, and an architecture that lets air and light move through. Louvres filter the sun, tropical vegetation surrounds the house, and the interior extends naturally outdoors.
Conceived as a place for creation and encounters, the project takes shape little by little, with respect for local craftsmanship and the peaceful rhythm of the village.
